కడప నగర శివారులోని పుట్లంపల్లి వద్ద 200 ఎకరాల విస్తీర్ణంలో ఏర్పాటు చేసిన రాజీవ్ గాంధీ వైద్య, నర్సింగ్ కళాశాలలను అప్పటి ముఖ్యమంత్రి డా.వైఎస్ రాజశేఖర్ రెడ్డి కోరిక మేరకు యుపిఏ చైర్ పర్సన్ గా ఉన్న సోనియా గాంధీ 27 సెప్టెంబర్ 2006న ప్రారంభించారు. ఇదే రోజున సోనియా గాంధీ గారు రిమ్స్ దంతవైద్య కళాశాల నిర్మాణానికి పునాది రాయి వేశారు.

ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో ఆనాటి ఆం.ప్ర ముఖ్యమంత్రి వైఎస్ తో పాటు పలువురు మంత్రులు కూడా పాల్గొన్నారు.
